On top of the windmill, Matt was using the tip of his dragon tongue to slide off Ushida’s dress.

“Nooo~! The dragon is eating my clothes!” Ushida let out a scream that Kai recognized. It was similar to the one he heard in the forest.

The Royal Family (and Kai’s single guest) watched in horror (and inappropriate arousal) at the distressed princess.

“Aahh, now the dragon’s eating me~!” Ushida, now fully stripped, rested comfortably in Matt’s mouth. She thrust her pelvis into Matt’s tongue, grasping at the tip. Matt’s tongue pulsed, the muscle contracting and expanding at a steady rhythm.

From far away, to an unknowing viewer, it would look like she was fighting to get away.

Unfortunately, Kai knew what was going on and sighed heavily exiting the castle. “This is some sort of kink play,” he thought, but brushed it aside. “But no one else here knows that.” 

Kai drew a grappling hook from the inside of his military-grade peacoat. “I need to treat this like an actual threat.” he thought to himself. 

He soared to the top of the windmill, drawing his sword mid-flight.

As he was preparing to strike the fully draconic Matt,  his opponent casually extended a claw, effortlessly flicking away the sword’s blade, leaving the hilt in his hand.

“What will you do now?” communicated Matt, using sign language. His mouth stayed closed, with Ushida still inside.

Kai raised his hands in surrender, demonstrating his unarmed state. “If I lost in a fight so easily just by being unarmed, then I’m not ready to be a bodyguard. I’ll have to do the honorable thing and quit the knighthood.”

“So…” With a bashful gesture, Kai pressed his finger to his lips. “How can we make our first date memorable?”

“Seriously?” signed Matt.

Kai showed no hesitation.

He placed his hands around the snout of Matt’s dragon mouth, leaned in, and closed his eyes.

Kai fully and openly kissed Matt, human sized mouth to the dragon’s beak.

As Kai pulled away from the kiss, Matt let out a giddy roar, releasing Ushida into Kai’s arms, before flying off. Kai desperately wished to clean his mouth after the kiss.

“Are you really my knight who was so afraid in the woods?” Ushida playfully examined Kai.

And suddenly, Kai’s disgust was gone. He stood confidently. “Princess, it is my honor to protect you. I will do anything to keep you safe. Even if-“

He noticed that Princess Ushida was completely naked, except for the cowbell around her neck.

Although Ushida wore many revealing outfits, outright nudity, especially somewhere so public, was highly inappropriate.

And that is why Kai blushed when he saw Ushida’s naked body. If you asked him further about this moment of blushing, he would insist there was no other reason. He whipped off his jacket and placed it around her, and continued his thoughts.

“-Even if it means kissing, which is widely interpreted as both a romantic and potentially sexual act. In this case I understood my foe was not a foe, but for your dignity and to prevent escalation, I assessed it would be the most simple solution, especially as I had been disarmed. This may be a violation of the code of knighthood, but since my purpose is to protect you, one could argue that a kiss is-”

Ushida gracefully floated up to Kai, wrapping her arms around his neck, and kissed him on the cheek. 

Kai blushed again, but this blush felt different.

If you asked him further about this second moment of blushing, it would be legitimately difficult for him to explain how he felt. This was because of years of suppressed emotions, including happiness.

Kai let the swaddled princess stand on her own and the two stood proudly, side-by-side, on top of the windmill. “Everyone, this is my bodyguard.” Ushida’s voice amplified over the crowd. “I’m so happy to have him by my side.”

Similar to their first meeting, Kai once again felt enveloped in a profound peace. ‘This is what I was born to do,’ thought Kai. His purpose wasn’t to be an ambiguous, low-level knight or a one-time character in a rescue mission. He was now joined to Princess Ushida for life, and felt a joy in how special he was to her.

‘I’m happy to be by your side too,’ he thought, feeling a happiness different from the pride he felt from his military service. However, Kai did not feel it was appropriate to share this. He simply smiled, optimistic for the beginning of his new life.
